To the Residents of Pismo Beach,

I am proud to write in support of our neighbor, Clare Malone Prichard, for Pismo Beach City Council.

In a community as special as Pismo Beach, I believe we need people serving on our City Council who are honest, dependable, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in the place they call home. Clare is that kind of person. As her neighbor, I have had the opportunity to know Clare not simply by reputation, but by the way she conducts herself every day. She is a person of integrity. When Clare gives you her word, you can count on it. She is reliable, approachable, and willing to listen—and those qualities matter tremendously when making decisions that affect our community.

I also believe Clare’s business experience would bring an important perspective to City Council. She understands responsibility, accountability, working with people, and the importance of making thoughtful and practical decisions. Those skills can translate into meaningful service to Pismo Beach. Most importantly, Clare cares about our community. She isn't someone who is simply looking for a title or a position. She is someone who is willing to step forward, take responsibility, and contribute her time and experience to help make Pismo Beach an even better place to live.

I have great respect for Clare, both as a person and as a neighbor, and I am pleased to lend my voice in support of her. I hope others in our community will take the time to get to know Clare for themselves and consider what she could bring to our City Council.

I don't usually weigh in publically on local races, but I know Clare well enough to say this with confidence.

I've known her for close to a decade. When we first met, we bonded over a shared desire to serve our community and make Pismo Beach better. In 2020, we both applied for appointment to the Pismo Beach Planning Commission, and I was thrilled when she was appointed. Her background in architecture and her experience in similar roles in larger cities have been invaluable. Since Clare became Chair, meetings run more smoothly, and discussions stay focused on the issue at hand and within the scope of the commission. She listens before she decides, and that's exactly what residents deserve from their representatives.

I've also seen how she treats people when no one is watching. She's the same person in a commission meeting, at a community event, and over coffee: curious, open-minded, dedicated, and caring. She approaches every issue without bias. Clare isn't running for a title. She's running because she has already made a real difference on the Planning Commission and is ready to bring the same dedication to a role with wider impact for Pismo Beach.

I have known Clare for over six years as a neighbor in Shell Beach, and in that time, she has always been courteous, kind, and thoughtful. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the local issues that affect our everyday lives, and I truly appreciate how she keeps me informed.

I’ve always been impressed by her work ethic, intelligence, and commitment to our community, and I’m thrilled that she is running for City Council. She is exactly the type of person we hope will step up and volunteer her time and experience to serve our community.

At a time when it can sometimes feel like local politics is driven by personal or special interests, it’s refreshing to see someone like Clare step forward. When situations are complex, Clare remains calm and maintains a positive demeanor. She values collaboration and seeks a fair outcome for everyone involved. I trust her like a sister. She genuinely cares about the Pismo Beach community and will work hard to serve it.

I have had the pleasure of getting to know Clare through Pismo Beach Athletic Club, where we have participated in many activities and programs offered at the facility.

I’ve known Clare Malone Prichard and husband Bob Prichard for over 20 years. We share a love for classic cars, and for several years, would caravan to participate in the Pismo Beach Classic Car Show. Clare and Bob fell in love with the community and moved to Shell Beach, and have welcomed us in their home to attend the car show ever since. During our stays they take us on tours through the neighborhoods, beaches, local towns, wineries and restaurants showing just how attractive the community is. During our stay they often discuss the status of the city’s civic improvements and proposed projects, and how Clare sees her professional expertise could be a benefit in the planning. Clare’s attention to architectural details shows in the many home improvement projects they’ve made, and I’ve consulted Clare on our own projects which she is always been there to provide support.

Clare has always impressed me with her deep knowledge of her tradecraft and confidence. Her ideas are innovative, realistic and achievable. Coming from my defense contractor engineering background, it’s easy to see Clare is no nonsense, hard working real deal person. Knowing her has been a treasure.

I met Clare and her husband playing pickleball. I was immediately impressed with her ethics and values. Clare is a person who says what she means and means what she says. She is well informed, genuine and generous and is an ideal candidate for Pismo City Council.
